When should I consider refinishing my hardwood floors?

b2ap3_thumbnail_14212907_S.jpgIn this day and age, “out with the old and in with the new” is all too common. And while that may work and be true for many things, when it comes to hardwood floors, we believe in cherishing them and making the best of what you have. Unfortunately, we know that once in a while, you might have to totally replace a hardwood floor.

However, today we’re going to focus on refinishing your hardwood floors and determining when you should consider getting your hands (or ours) “dirty”!

Without further ado, let’s jump into the signs that you should consider refinishing your hardwood floors!

1. Your hardwood flooring is extremely worn out and damaged

If your floors have scratches, years of wear and tear, and even creaking and some minor buckling, it’s likely time to refinish them, as opposed to recoating them. While this is more costly than simply recoating the floors, it’ll make for a beautiful result.

2. You can’t stand to look at the color of your flooring any more
Sometimes you’ve just had enough of looking at your old floors. Whether you “inherited” the floors from the previous owner, or have had enough of the floor coloring you chose for your home, we understand that sometimes that’s enough to make you consider refinishing your floors!

3. Only a few pieces of your floor need to be replaced or patched

Unless the vast majority of your floor needs some serious TLC, you can almost always refinish and replace just a few boards without a complete flooring replacement. If you’re unsure, we recommend consulting with a professional because replace the entire floor can be quite pricy.
